Both will be installed on only one computer when I am done. I plan to physically move the current hard drive to the new computer, as it was a recent upgrade. To be clear, I plan to have this Office installed on only one computer and plan to keep it only on one computer in future per obvious license requirements, I just want to accomplish this in the simplest way possible.
Note: When I performed a similar drive move between computers a couple of years ago with Office , I had no issues with activation, everything went fine, so this issue I describe here is specific to something in the Office activation process. In any event, I recently tried moving my hard drive to the new computer, and I was able to get Win XP updating drivers as necessary, of course and all my other programs to work fine, however, Office wanted reactivation.
I tried to reactivate Office via the web method I had good connection to internet but this failed. I tried the phone method, twice, but both attempts failed, reporting only the message that I needed to "return my software to the store" No other options given Since I want to physically move the hard drive to the new computer, is there a deactivation step that somehow needs to be first performed on the old computer to allow Office to be moved moved to, not duplicated on a new computer without the need to completely uninstall it as some have suggested?
I cannot find any "deactivate" or "deauthorize" menu item within Office Is there some other utility software MS has for download that facilitates the software migration process? Excepting for a complete uninstall losing all updates and preferences , how does one move Office to a new computer? Thanks in advance for any ideas.
There are no retail versions of Office Pro Plus, they are volume licences available only to qualifying persons. Pro Plus is not available for retail purchase.

In reply to Palcouk's post on May 27, When you use phone activation you don't respond to any prompts until given the option to speak to a real person My mistake, make that Office Pro; my previous Office was the full enterprise version purchased through the MS HUP program, sorry for that error on details.
Would it be possible to reinstall it over the top of the current installation to see if any corruption gets fixed? Other ideas? You will not be able to successfully reinstall the program if you have the corrupted Office keys on the computer. If you have run the fix it tool to remove the Office suite and it failed to fix the issue, then you may try to remove the traces of Office manually from the computer and check if it helps:. Note : Ensure to read the disclaimer or take a backup of the registry before modifying.
Once the traces are removed, restart the computer and reinstall the Office suite. Thank you. Curiously, when I called the support number I followed all the initial prompts and read back the huge number that was displayed then entered the number they read back and, magically, my license was transferred to the new computer.

I bought a new laptop, and wanted to put my old office onto my new one I know this is possible, but when I simply uninstalled Office on my old laptop and went to enter the product key on new one, it said the license was full.
Is there a way to unlicense a laptop officially to free up the license space? This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. There is no de-license procedure, you simply uninstall if the PC is still working You can only install a full retail version on a replacement PC, and not an OEM or KeyCard version You should first uninstall any trial version, first.
